Changing Teams by Jennifer Allis Provost

Stars Given: 4/5

Review:¬†This novel was a very fun read! Normally it takes me a few days to get through a novel what with my hectic writing and school schedule, but I finished this novel in less than a day! The characters were fun, and real. I was enamored and just had to know Sam’s story, and what would happen next. Sam and Britt were simple and adorable. There relationship seemed effortless, which is what I this Provost was aiming for.

Not only is this a fun read, but it also delves into some heavy topics. I think Provost did a good job of mixing in the perfect amount of emotion in with the topics that were brought up. I also really enjoyed her writing style. She did a great job with characterization and making them three dimensional. I didn’t particularly care much for Britt, but I loved Sam to bits. I wish that Britt would have been more supportive of him when he finally came clean. I was confused by her response and a little angered even.
Because of this, I gave the novel 4 stars instead of 5. Her behavior made me dislike her more and love Sam all the more.

Despite that, there were times when I laughed out loud, and times when I gasped in horror. As a person who prefers not to read erotica, I would even like to point out that the sexual scenes were very tasteful and didn’t go too far into detail. Overall, I would definitely read more from this author, and can’t wait to read the next novel in this series! I was surprised after finishing the novel to learn that Provost usually writes fantasy and horror. This was my first novel of hers, but knowing that she wrote a new genre this well makes me want to read her other novels even more!
